Magnificent and Restorative

The Park

True master of the Estate, the 8-hectare (20-acre) park — with its abundant life — has retained its wild character. We chose to let the vegetation grow freely and intertwine harmoniously with the traces of past human activity.

Thus, as you wander among century-old oaks, Aleppo pines, cypresses, olive and fruit trees, along stone walls and natural hedges, you pass through the different levels shaped by ancient cultivated terraces, fishponds, and the bamboo grove, before climbing the slopes of the olive meadow.
There, the landscape reveals an ever-changing rhythm of shade and light, cool undergrowth, dense paths, and open clearings.

Let yourself be amazed!

The Highlights

The estate’s landscaped park offers a wealth of natural charm and variety, inviting you to explore its many corners at your own pace. You can wander freely through a variety of atmospheres:
• The bamboo grove with its pétanque ground

A Former Templar Fief

History of the Estate

The site’s history dates back to Roman times: a mosaic has been preserved in the chapel floor, along with terracotta pipes that once carried running water to what was likely a Gallo-Roman villa.

Later, it became a Benedictine convent under Montmajour Abbey of Arles.
On its ruins, the Templars of Roaix (who pledged homage to Count Alphonse in 1253) built a fief and the Chapel of Saint John.

From the Templars, the fief passed to the Holy See, which excluded it from the Templar inheritance destined for the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, granting it instead to Hugues Scofini, and later to Bertrand des Baux in 1364.

After the Baux, it was owned by the Tillia family. One of them had it elevated to a marquisate by Pope Benedict XIV on May 28, 1755. Before the Revolution, it had grown into a parish village, whose priest was appointed by the Abbot of Montmajour.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, the estate thrived with vineyards and silkworm breeding (‘magnanerie’), before turning to vegetable farming.

A Renaissance

A Major Restoration Project

Since its acquisition in July 2023, extensive renovations were carried out from October 2023 to September 2025.

• The roof was redone.
• The estate’s 95 windows were replaced.
• Major masonry work repaired a structural crack, both lightening and strengthening the building.
• Utilities were modernized: sanitation, electricity, plumbing.
• Landscaping, earthworks, and painting were completed.

Samir’s team, in charge of the project, worked with exceptional dedication, and we collaborated daily to support and guide the progress.

The manor was divided into four logis, with shared spaces created for group activities. Each logis was furnished and equipped with quality materials in keeping with the local style. Furniture was carefully sourced or custom-made for the project.
The outdoor spaces were redesigned to allow guests to dine and relax in harmony with nature.

It was a true collective adventure: we lived on site during the works, actively contributing to the construction and to daily decisions with the master builder.
